The Gospel of John Bible Study Guides and Lessons

As a lover of Bible study, one of my main goals in teaching my kids is to point them to a love of God, a love of others, and a love of His Word! I want them to know there are answers in this Big Book. I want them to know there are wonders. And I want them to know God wrote it because He wanted us to know Him! As I was preparing our homeschool choices for this year, I came across a great reading schedule for the Gospel of John. It looked like such a perfect idea!

Bible Study from the Book of John 1:12-13 – "A child of God"

Even among the twelve, John was one of the three apostles along with Peter and James who were the closest to Jesus; The Gospel of John, also called "Book of John," is an eyewitness account written by someone very close to Jesus. From the context of these and other references in this gospel, however, it is clear that John is the writer. This Bible study draws from those gospels, as well as from the other books of the Bible.

Why Study the Book of John?

If Jesus is who the Bible portrays Him to be and who He claimed to be—the Christ Messiah , the Son of the living God—then the only sensible response is to trust Him as your Savior from sin and judgment and to follow Him as your Lord. John is not trying to persuade you to believe in some general notions about Jesus, such as, He was a good man, a great teacher, or even a prophet of God. And he wants you to believe that Jesus is the Son of God, which means, He is God in human flesh John wants us to know that in Jesus, we see the unseen God. So John wants his readers to know who Jesus is and to believe in Him as He is. The result of believing in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, is that you will have life in His name. There are thousands of pages of background information on John, which I encourage you to read if you want more depth and detail.
